Nowadays, there’s absolutely no reason to think that you’re stuck with the smile you have. Cosmetic dentistry offers so many wonderful options to enhance the beauty of your smile. One way is with Invisalign, the orthodontic system that uses clear plastic aligners to move your teeth rather than bulky and annoying metal braces. At Tamborello & Bowen, we often use Invisalign in Houston to correct a wide range of misalignment problems. Bring your smile to our office and let our dentists work their magic with Invisalign!
As we mentioned, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners, so hardly anyone will be able to tell that you’re even wearing braces. In normal social and business settings, these braces simply allow your natural tooth color to show. This can be a tremendous advantage if you’re at a stage in life when you need to be able to speak confidently without worrying about unsightly metal braces.
Secondly, Invisalign clear braces are removable. What makes this special? You’ll be able to take off your aligners every time you want to eat or brush and floss your teeth. Without anything on your teeth, you can enjoy all the foods you love the most—nothing is off-limits. Typically, people wearing traditional braces must eliminate hard, sticky or chewy foods that can dislodge a bracket or break a wire. There’s no such concern with Invisalign.
Likewise, without wearing your aligners, you’ll be able to more thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. This is extremely advantageous during orthodontic treatment. The metal brackets and wires of traditional braces create something of an obstacle course that you must maneuver around in order to properly clean your teeth.
Once you’ve had a dental checkup to ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy, we’ll take a series of x-rays, photos and impressions of your teeth. These are used to create a treatment plan that our dentists and the technicians at Invisalign follow in order to correctly align your teeth.
Your customized aligners are sent from the Invisalign lab to our office. They are arranged in the order that they need to be worn. As you advance from one pair of aligners to the next, you will begin to see your teeth gradually move. Be sure to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours every day so that you can complete your orthodontic treatment on schedule. Each case is different, but most Invisalign patients can plan on finishing treatment within 12 to 24 months.
