Periodontal Therapy

Sensitive gums that bleed easily are an early warning sign of periodontal disease. Regular oral hygiene visits aid in periodontal disease prevention, but should an infection occur, we can help.

Our in-house periodontal program begins with a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. We use a tool called an ultrasonic scaler to thoroughly eliminate plaque deposited around and below the gum line. After scaling, we help the healing process along by smoothing the visible surfaces of a tooth’s root. Finally, we place Arestin, a powerful antibiotic, to afflicted gum tissue to stop the infection.
